Privacy Policy
Effective Aug 19, 2026
1STXI Pty Limited ("1STXI", "we") processes personal information in accordance with the Protection of Personal Information Act, 2013 (POPIA). This policy explains what we collect, why, and what rights you have over it.
Who is responsible for your information
1STXI Pty Limited (registration 2021 / 697479 / 07) is the responsible party under POPIA. Our Information Officer can be reached at privacy@1stxi.com.
What we collect
Account details you give us directly — name, email address, and depending on your role, a phone number, a location, and playing or professional information you choose to add to a profile. A player's date of birth, collected so that we can apply the age rules below correctly. Messages sent through the platform, which are kept rather than edited or deleted once sent — see our Terms of Service. Technical information your browser sends on every request, and the cookies described in our Cookie Policy.
Why we process it — the lawful basis
We only process personal information for one of the reasons POPIA allows, which in practice means:
- To create and run your account, and to provide the matching features your role uses.
- To let clubs and agents discover players, and players find clubs and agents, which is the platform's purpose and something you agree to when you sign up.
- To keep the platform safe — screening messages, limiting how often an account may approach a child, and investigating reports.
- To meet a legal obligation, such as keeping records tax or other law requires.
- Where you have given consent for something beyond the above — such as analytics or marketing cookies, see our Cookie Policy.
Children
Many players on this platform are minors. POPIA requires a competent person's — ordinarily a parent or legal guardian's — consent before we may process a child's personal information beyond what is strictly necessary to run the platform. In practice: an account below our self-registration age is created and controlled by a guardian, who consents and answers on the child's behalf; a player account is never offered analytics or marketing cookies, whatever is clicked in the banner — see our Cookie Policy; and private messaging is never available to a child — see our Terms of Service.
Who we share it with
We do not sell personal information. It is shared with: other accounts the platform's purpose requires it be shared with — a club or agent you have connected with sees the profile information you have made visible to them; service providers who process it on our behalf under contract, such as hosting, email delivery and payment processing (PayFast); and a regulator, court, or law enforcement body where we are legally required to disclose it.
Sending information outside South Africa
Some of our service providers operate outside South Africa. Where personal information is transferred across a border, POPIA section 72 requires that it remain subject to protection at least equivalent to this policy — through the provider's own compliance with an adequate law, or through a written contract that binds them to that standard. We only use providers on those terms.
How we protect it
We take reasonable technical and organisational steps against loss, unauthorised access and unlawful processing, as POPIA section 19 requires — the site is served over HTTPS, passwords are hashed rather than stored, and access within our team is limited to what a role needs. No method of storing or transmitting information is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
How long we keep it
We keep personal information for as long as your account is active, and for a limited period after you ask us to close it, in case you change your mind — see the account-deletion setting described in our Terms of Service. Messages are not deleted individually, for the reasons given there.
Your rights
Under POPIA you may, subject to some exceptions the Act itself sets out:
- Ask what personal information we hold about you, and request a copy of it.
- Ask us to correct or delete personal information that is inaccurate, irrelevant, excessive, out of date, incomplete, misleading, or obtained unlawfully.
- Object to our processing of your personal information on reasonable grounds.
- Withdraw a consent you previously gave — for example, your cookie preferences, at any time through our Cookie Policy.
- Complain to us, and if unsatisfied, to the Information Regulator.
To exercise any of these, contact our Information Officer at the address above.
Complaining to the Information Regulator
If you believe we have not handled your personal information in accordance with POPIA, you may complain to South Africa's Information Regulator.
Changes to this policy
We keep this policy under review and will place any updates on this page.

Cookie Policy

What are "cookies"?
Cookies are small text files stored by your browser when you visit a website. They let a site remember something about your visit from one page to the next, or from one visit to the next.
What we use them for
We use cookies to keep you signed in, to remember a display preference you have made, and — only once you have agreed below — to understand how the site is used and to measure advertising. We do not use cookies to build a profile of you for sale to anyone else.
The table below lists every cookie this application sets.
| Cookie | Purpose | Duration | Category |
|---|---|---|---|
| Session cookie | Keeps you signed in and links your requests to your session while you use the site. The application cannot work without it. | Until you close your browser, or sign out | Necessary |
theme |
Remembers whether you chose light, dark, or "follow this device". | 1 year | Functional |
cookie_consent |
Remembers the choice you make below, so we do not ask again on every visit. | 6 months | Necessary |
Google Analytics (_ga, _gid and related cookies) |
Not set unless you grant Analytics below and Google Analytics has been switched on for this site. Helps us understand how the site is used, in aggregate. | Up to 2 years | Analytics |
Meta / Facebook Pixel (_fbp) |
Not set unless you grant Marketing below and the Meta Pixel has been switched on for this site. Measures the effectiveness of advertising that brought you here. | Up to 90 days | Marketing |
Children
Many players on this platform are under 18. A player account that our records do not show as an adult is not offered Analytics or Marketing here at all — only the necessary and functional cookies above. See our Privacy Policy for how we handle a child's information more generally.
Changing your choice
Use the "Manage cookie preferences" link on this page to open the same panel the banner offers, at any time.
Managing cookies in your browser
Browsers are typically set to accept cookies automatically. You can set yours to warn you when a cookie is being sent, or to refuse cookies entirely, through your browser's settings. Refusing the necessary cookies above will stop the site working correctly.
Changes to this policy
We keep this policy under review and will place any updates on this page.
